A: On your first visit, plan to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to complete a Confidential Health History Form. You will then have a brief consultation with your massage therapist. This will determine your needs and goals. Q: Must I undress for my massage?
A: You may undress to your comfort level. You will be covered at all times with a sheet and/or a blanket, with only the area being worked on exposed. Q: What do I do during a massage treatment?
A: Make yourself comforatble and focus on your breathing. Many people close their eyes and relax during a session. Remember, it is your massage, make sure to let your therapist know if you are uncomfortable in any way. Q: How will I feel after my massage?
A: Most people are very relaxed. You may experience a release of any aches and pains you were suffering from beforehand. Some people experience increased energy and greater productivity, which can last for days afterward. Q: Is there anything specific I should do afer my massage?
A: Yes! Drink plenty of water to keep your tissues hydrated. This also helps to flush toxins out which may have been released during your massage. A hot epsom salt bath encourages the release of toxins that much more. If you experience any sort of sorness afterwards, be sure to let your therapist know as they will advise you proper action to take. Q: How often should I have a massage?
A: It depends on individual needs or desires. For most people, regular massages are scheduled once a week to once a month apart. If you have chronic pain, or are working on a specific injury, it is recommended your sessions be scheduled closer together. You and your therapist can work out a schedule that works best for you and your needs. Q: When is massage not advisable?
A: When you have any broken bones, open wounds, varicose veins, acute infectious diseases, blood clots, fever or recently had surgery. It is very important for you to discuss your health status with your therapist to determine if massage is right for you.
