Massage Techniques
I incorporate a variety of techniques within a massage session. Together we can design an individual session or program which will be customized to fit your needs. This will guide us both in reaching a desired outcome.
Deep Tissue: A painless method that works slowly through the muscle layers to release chronic patterns of tension. The therapist uses slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas. The emphasis is on altering structure and muscle restrictions. This results in longer lasting benefits.
Neuromuscular Therapy: This therapy uses specific techniques including trigger-point therapy to release “knots”. Pain or pressure is also released on the nerves which allow the muscles to relax. NMT is an effective method of relieving pain in the soft-tissues, releasing muscular spasm and allowing the body to normalize itself.
Swedish Massage: A relaxing massage that uses long, gliding strokes and calming pressure to melt away muscle tension, improve blood circulation and improve flexibility. Endorphins, the body's 'natural pain killer' is released into the body to give you that feel good sensation.
Sports Massage: Both preventative and therapeutic. Releases any built up tension and lactic acid in overworked muscles, which effectively promotes muscle repair. Lessens chances of injury, reduces recovery time, aids in mental clarity, and promotes greater athletic endurance and performance.
Reiki (Level 1): An ancient Qi Gong healing technique with roots from Japan and China. Hands are gently placed on your body while healing energy is channeled. Used as a compliment to bodywork, Reiki facilitates the balancing of your energy. This brings about deep relaxation and healing.
